Space Time Life Death

I like to do these surreal illustrations. I might do more of these for my next series. I still have a few more Greek Mythology illustrations to finish.

The theme here is something I always find interesting. It's thinking about life and death, and the universe we live in. Before I started drawing I opened a notepad and wrote down a bunch of keyword objects that related to the theme "Space Time Life Death". I wanted to make sure that every inch of the canvas was full of detail and had some sub-theme. The idea of "fractals" was an important part of the composition because fractals (for me) seem to represent the infinity of life. I think that in order to have time we must have space first, that seemed important too. The flowers are growing through the skull representing that life persists. Some areas of the canvas are supposed to feel cold and dead and other areas should feel hot and active.
